Age & Creativity

God gave you a brain – use it; even when you are old. You’re never too old to use your noodle. As you get older several things happen. One is, you do get older. That is a fact, and it cannot be denied or reversed. However, getting old does not mean you have to stop using your mind. A lot of people lose the proper functioning of their mind because of lack of use.

“Use it or lose it” is as true for the mind as anything else. The brain, designed by our Creator is renewable. The problem is old people tend to stop using their brain and, in many cases, let others do their thinking for them.

WE MUST THINK FOR OURSELVES

You’re born, you grow up, get married and have children. In the beginning you think for your children but as you get older your children do the thinking for you. While we are grateful for our children, their love, care, and protection, we cannot turn our brain over to them. We must think for ourselves.

Another factor in getting older and as we stop thinking for ourselves is TIME. When we were young, we thought we had lots of time but as we age, we become time conscious. When we were young it was like we were climbing up the mountain of time with no end in sight but as we get older it is like we are going down the other side with no time to spare.

This is both good and bad depending on how we approach it. Approach is a word that should be in the vocabulary of the older generation. Because how we approach anything determines the outcome. This is true in getting older and going through the aging process.

It is a myth that older people cannot think for themselves. Aside from some disease or brain trauma the main reason for the brain to stop working is lack of use. Lack of use is a brain destroyer. The fact is, the brain like a muscle in the body left unused will stop functioning properly. “Use it or lose it’ applies to the brain as well as the muscles in our body.

A person can choose their quality of life by choosing how they use their mind.

It is entirely possible to think oneself into an early grave. As we get older how and what we think impacts our quality of life.

At any age, think right, believer right, act right and live to an old age by thinking young.
