SOME TIME IT RAINS

Some time it rains and some time the sun is out bright. The truth is we need both rain and sunshine but too much of each can be harmful, even devastating. It is a lot like life, even good things over indulged can be harmful, even devastating.

For instance, drugs are used to heal and when abused can kill or cause irreversible harm. This doesn’t mean we throw out drugs because someone abused them. Discarding and outlawing drugs that can heal when safely used is not the answer.

Drugs both over the counter or even prescribed by a physician comes with both a warning and with directions. Follow the directions on the bottle or label and most likely they will do good but go off the rail, so to speak, and they can be very harmful.

It’s amazing the parallel between life and taking medicine are so similar. Life is best lived when the rules of life are followed. Someone once said that life doesn’t come with a manual that tells us how to live but that is not accurate because we do have a manual for living.

This manual for living when read, understood, and followed not only gives us directions but also has warnings and to neglect the warnings can shipwreck a life. Many a life has found themselves beached on the rocks, battered, and bruised all because they neglected the compass that gives them direction and warnings.

Let us get back to the analogy of the rain and the sun. If your going to the beach take suntan oil and generously apply it. It can save you a lot of pain and possibly a trip to the doctor or even the hospital. Rain is wonderful and brings dry places to life. Rain is restorative and even cause a desert to bloom. However, too much rain is devastation.

Families are destroyed and marriages dissolved, not because families are evil, or marriage is wrong, but families and marriage fail because the greatest manual on family and marriage has been neglected.

The best and greatest success manual ever given to man is the bible. People fail, marriages fail, business fail, society fails when the manual for living is neglected. The bibles instruct and warns. It tells us how to live and it tells us what to avoid if we want to have health families and good marriages.

Businessmen, husbands, wives, businessmen, men and women of all walks of life have greatly benefited from reading and following the do’s and the don’ts in the bible.

The book of Proverbs is an excellent place to begin learning the lessons of life and how to live in such a way to prosper and succeed. For example, Proverbs instructs us to: “My son, attend to my words, incline thine ears unto my sayings. Let then not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” Proverbs 4:20, 24

One other passage to prove our point: follow the directions, heed the warnings, and live, succeed, and enjoy the life we were given by our creator. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. II Timothy 2:16 New Living Translation.

If your taking medicine read the label, if your going to the beach buy suntan oil, get an umbrella, or wear a hat for extended time in the sun. To live a life well worth living follow the manual for living, the bible.
